National Education Policy 2020 – Impacts and Prospects

  • The National Education Policy (NEP-2020) aims to start fundamental reforms in schools and higher education. The Policy is based on the belief that education is essential for realising one's full potential, creating a more just and equitable society, and advancing national development. The National Education Policy's principal goal is to make India a more egalitarian and knowledge thriving society. It envisions an education system centered on India that directly contributes to the country's transformation into a knowledge superpower.
  • The comprehensive transformation aimed at bringing about a paradigm shift in the country's education system through effective implementation of NEP. This is expected to create a reinforced educational ecosystem. The sole aim is realising the Honourable Prime Minister of India—Shri. Narendra Modi ji's vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat.'
  • By equipping and disseminating critical skills and information, this policy emphasises on knowledge superpower. It will concentrate on addressing the skilled manpower shortages in technology, research, industry, and academia. Access, Quality, Equity, Accountability, and Affordability are the five pillars that the draft of the policy is constructed on.
  • This conclave on various sections of the National Education Policy 2020,is being organized as it is thought that academic institutions have a greater role to play in ensuring that the NEP is implemented in its entirety.

Aims of the Conclave

1. The conclave aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform by bringing together leading academicians, scientists, researchers and research scholars, faculty members, members of the administration, and enthusiastic citizens to discuss and share their expectations, expertise, and experiences related to NEP 2020's various avenues.

2. The goal is to identify, understand, and prioritise the many stakeholder groups for NEP 2020's core implementation areas at various levels.

    Prof. Aggarwal has been associated with NBA in various capacities since its inception and was Chairman, EEAC ( Tier-II ) before taking over as Chairman, NBA on 14th January, 2019. , Prof. Aggarwal served as Pro Vice-Chancellor, GJU, Hisar for a period of three years, and then as Founder Vice Chancellor of GGS Indraprastha University, Delhi for a period of 10 years. He has been President of the IETE for the period 2002-2004, President, Computer Society of India from 2007-2009 and President of South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC) from 2008-10.

    Professor Rajive Kumar did his M E in Computer Technology and Application from Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi and Ph D from I I T Delhi. After completing Ph D, he joined D C R University of Science & Technology, Haryana in the year 1990. His areas of research interest are Mathematical Computing, Software Engineering and Image Processing. He has published number of research papers in national and international Journals and presented papers in India and abroad. He has visited several universities in USA, Canada, China and Malaysia.

    Dr. B. N. Sarka

    Shri B.N. Sarkar joined National Information System for Science and Technology (NISSAT) Scheme of DSIR,Ministry of Science and Technology as Scientific Officer – II in 1990 and continued the service here for over 29 years with different schemes and positions. He also hold administrative In-charge position for two PSEs of this Ministry namely Central Electronics Limited (CEL), Sahibabad & NRDC, New Delhi. He is a Post Graduate Engineer in Computer Controlled Power System from IISc, Bangalore & holds a Graduate Degree in EE from Regional Engineering College, Durgapur (Recently National Institute of Technology).

    Prof S. N. Singh obtained his M. Tech. and Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, in 1989 and 1995. Dr Singh worked with UP State Electricity Board as Assistant Engineer from 1988 to 1996, with Roorkee University (now IIT Roorkee) as Assistant Professor from 1996 to 2000 and with Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand as Assistant Professor from 2001 to 2002. He was Vice Chancellor of Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology Gorakhpur during April 2017 to July 2020.

    Dr. Mohit Gambhir is working as the Innovation Director, MHRD’s Innovation Cell, Govt. of India. He belongs to the first breeds of Techno-Legal professional out of India, by qualification he is a PhD in Computer Engineering along with LL.B in IPR. He has extensive work experience in IP space, having established profit generating IP teams on various models viz FTE, Contractual, project based and need based and was responsible for complete cycle of operations and execution.

    Dr. Ashish Mohan

    Dr Ashish Mohan is a doctorate in robotics and mechatronics from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He has a total industry experience of around 24 years which includes working with JCB India, Tata Motors, Hi-Tech Robotic Systemz Ltd., and a brief research project at IIT Delhi for ISRO and the Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. His core areas of expertise include - (1) New technology development and Advanced Engineering domains like robotics, machine learning, multibody dynamics, kinematics and artificial intelligence, and, (2) Establishment of industry best innovation ecosystem, innovation incubation proto-labs, and IP delivery processes.
