Moot Court

Generally Moot Court means a mock court at which law students argue imaginary cases for practice during their course. A Moot Court is an extracurricular activity at IIMT law College greater Noida in which participants take part in simulated court proceedings, which involves drafting, briefs or memorial and participating in oral argument. At IIMT College of Law a two days national moot court competition have been organised on 18 – 19th October 2019, more than 100 teams from various central University, state University and NLU’S, have participate in this event, In this National Moot Court competition, the court does not involve actual testimony by witnesses or the presentation of evidence but is focused solely on the application of the Law to a common set of evidentiary assumptions to which the competitors must be introduced.

In this National -moot competitions at IIMT College of Law Greater Noida, each side is represented by two speakers, but there are many members in the team and a third member, sometimes known as counsel, may be seated with the
speakers or in the audience. Each speaker usually speaks between 15 and 25 minutes, covering anywhere from one to three issues.

After the main submissions are completed, there will be a short round of battles. The format of the moot were that, there may be one or two rounds of rebuttal. The final round of this competition are played by a number of preliminary
rounds to determine seeding.

At IIMT Law College in National moot court competition, the closest experience that a law student can get to appearing in a court is mooting. The students are given a imaginary case for research, frame the arguments,
preparing the briefs, which is called memorials and appear before Judges to argue the case. Mooting is the better way to learn the law than to read, interpret, comprehend, and understanding the research, framing arguments , and write.
Mooting delivers a holistic approach to learning the Law and adopted the law in practice.
