National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) was established by the UGC for evaluating the performance of the Universities and Colleges in our Country. Check NAAC A++ University in India here.
Accreditation alludes to the certification given by NAAC which is valid for a period of 5 years. It conducts assessment and accreditation of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) like colleges, universities, or other recognized institutions to derive an understanding of the ‘Quality Status’ of the institution.
NAAC evaluates the institutions for their conformance to the standards of quality in terms of its performance related to the educational processes and outcomes, curriculum coverage, teaching-learning processes, faculty, research, infrastructure, learning resources, organization, governance, financial well being, and student services.
Education plays a crucial role in the progress of any nation. The NAAC has been established to facilitate the volunteering institutions to assess their performance vis-à-vis set parameters through introspection and a process that provides space for participation of the institution.
The two foremost eligibility criteria for universities to apply for NAAC Accreditation are (1) the age of the institution must be 6 years or more, and (2) the institution must have at least two batches of graduated/passed out students. There are seven NAAC’s Assessment standards for Accreditation (1) curricular aspects, (2) teaching-learning evaluation, (3) research, consultancy and extension, (4) infrastructure and learning resources, (5) innovations and best practices, (6) governance, leadership and management, and (7) student support and progression.
NAAC’s vision is to form quality the defining element of higher education in India through a blend of self and external quality evaluation, promotion, and sustenance initiatives.
Some of the top universities which are NAAC A++ are Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Institute of Chemical Technology, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre of Advanced Scientific Research, University of Hyderabad, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Banasthali University, Indian Institute of Science, Andhra University, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Jadavpur University, NALSAR University of Law, etc. It’s been made obligatory for all higher learning institutes by 2022.
