Institution’s Innovation Council
Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India has established ‘MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years. MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses. IIC has been established in 2020 in IIMT CoP under the presidentship of Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Dean(Academics) ,IIMT College of Polytechnic, Greater Noida.
Major focus of IIC
- To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem and start-up supporting mechanism in the institute
- Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework.
- Establish Function Ecosystem for Scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas.
- Develop better Cognitive Ability for Technology Students.
- To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.
- Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
- Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
- Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
- Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.
- Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges etc. with the involvement of industries
IIMT College of Polytechnic established Innovation Council (IC) under MHRD's Innovation Cell, an initiative launched in November of 2018. The primary mandate of Innovation Cell, MHRD is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas. IIMT CoP’s Innovation Council works towards inculcating the spirit of innovation among students, and develop a start-up ecosystem. In IC, students participate in mentoring sessions, workshops and innovative idea competitions. Since its inception, the IC, IIMT CoP has produced and developed very promising startup ideas. The IC, IIMT CoP faculty members have successfully completed the Ambassador Training Programme conducted by Innovation Cell, MHRD and it has been doing well since its establishment.
An Intellectual Property Right Cell has been created in the Institute under the Chairmanship of the Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Dean(Academics) to coordinate the activities pertaining to the Intellectual Property of the Institute and oversee the filing of patents by Faculty/Staff of the Institute including copyrights and other issues. The Institute IPR cell has been constituted to maintain high standards of academics and to create a suitable environment for creation and protection of intellectual property. IPR Cell took following steps towards achieving the objective: Turnitin software is used to check similarity of text with the published material. The login is available to all the Heads of the Departments and faculty of the Institute. Every Thesis is mandatory checked by the ‘Turnitin – Anti Plagiarism Web Tool’ before submission as per approval of the Senate in its meeting. Every department has been given user login for checking of research papers, project reports and thesis of respective departments. The draft IPR policy of the Institute is being reviewed as per guidelines by the Board of Governors.
Technology Transfer Cell
The Technology Transfer cell has been formed at IIMT CoP with a view to reach out to industries that are desirous to utilize the various technologies and technical know-how's generated and available for use at IIMT CoP. Intellectual Property (IP) is the name given to patents, trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs and other types of intangible property that arise from creations of the mind and in their broadest sense have no physical form. A patent is a legal document granting its holder the exclusive right to control the use of an invention, as set forth in the patents claims, within a limited area and time by stopping others from, among other things, making, using or selling the invention without authorization. Patents may be granted to protect inventions that are new, involves an inventive step and are capable of industrial applications. Technology transfer is the process by which basic science research and fundamental discoveries are developed into practical and commercially relevant applications and products. Technology Transfer personnel evaluate and manage invention portfolio, oversees patent prosecution, negotiate licensing agreements and periodically review cooperative research agreements already in place. EDC (Entrepreneurship Development Cell) was established under the chairmanship of Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Dean(A) with a vision to bridge the gap between Industry and Academia. The cell undertakes several activities for student development wherein the student gets corporate exposure while studying and develops a spirit of entrepreneurship. This enables student capability enhancement as well as their alignment with Industry. This way the EDC at one stroke creates a win-win model for students as well as Industry. Entrepreneurship development cell bridges the gap between ideas to the market product. Entrepreneurship development cell has taken a greater responsibility to generate the entrepreneurship skills among the students and to help them to channelize their goals to become a versatile entrepreneur. Moreover, we also give exposure of industrial sector to curious young minds to get perfect idea of market need and requirements. EDC Supports businesses and innovators as they develop, launch, and commercialize their ideas and motivate the students to bring out their latent spirit of Entrepreneurship. Besides the above, EDC strives to narrow the gap between industry expectations and student capabilities.
