Today, India is among the fastest growing economies in the world and is considered one of the emerging superpowers of the world. While on the one hand, India's central location and the trans-Indian Ocean routes have contributed to this growth, on the other hand, its large and complex border poses numerous challenges which need to be addressed for India's continued economic growth.

India shares its 15,106.7 km border with seven different countries. Most of these borders are man-made and do not follow any natural barrier. Effective border management for such complex territorial conditions calls for proper planning and measures on the three main aspects: people, process and technology.

To fortify our border from enemy and intruder from our neighbor side, an autonomous enemy detection camouflage gun turret (VAJRA) under the range of 600m - 800m which can be extended up to 1000m in emergency situation has been developed by a team of IIMT faculty and students in distinct phases.

Prof. S.K. Mahajan, Mr. Mayank Raj along with students Kaushal Kumar, Smrati Shrivastava, Tripti Rautela, Saurabh Patel and Muskan took around one year to build this system.

The system includes a raspberry pi which act as a controller of gun having open cv compiled in its operating system.

This system also uses thermal camera, which detects enemy using their body heat. The raspberry pi is further attached with motor control driver which leads connection to the stepper motor and relay for movement and firing of the gun respectively.

In this regard, Prof. Mahajan and his team have already filed a patent for their innovation, Patent number- 201931045535.
